Traffic restrictions on A47 for improvement works

Highways England has notified the need for traffic restrictions on the A47 to facilitate maintenance and improvement.

Location: full closure of A47 from the A47 / Castle Acre Road roundabout in Swaffham to the A47 / Dereham Road / Swaffham Road roundabout.

When: Thursday 18 January to Monday 19 February between 8 PM and 6 AM on Weekdays only.

Breckland Local Plan submitted to Planning Inspectorate for consideration

Notification of submission of Breckland Local Plan and Policies Maps – The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012: Submission of documents and information to the Secretary of State (Regulation 22)

In accordance with Regulation 22(3) of the above, Breckland Council gives notice that it has submitted the Breckland Local Plan and Policies Maps to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government on 30th November 2017 for independent examination.

In accordance with section 20 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended) Inspector Jonathan Manning BSc (Hons) MA MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the above-named Local Plan is sound.

Breckland District Council have appointed a Programme Officer, based at the Breckland Council Office, as the point of contact and to organise and administer the examination process under the guidance of the appointed Inspector:

At this stage the Local Plan is not subject to consultation. Representations received during the pre-submission consultation can be viewed on the Council’s consultation portal

The Breckland Local Plan will now be subjected to an independent examination to be conducted by the Planning Inspectorate. This is a continuous process running from the date of submission through to the receipt of the appointed Planning Inspector’s Report. Part of this process will involve hearing sessions where those invited to attend will have the opportunity to respond to matters raised by the appointed Planning Inspector. Once confirmed, all details relating to the examination process will be advertised and made available online.

Vanguard Wind Farm – Necton Parish Council’s response to Statutory Consultation

Necton Parish Council considered their response to the statutory pre-application consultation at their meeting on 04 December 2018.  It was agreed to engage within the consultation and provide comment on matters contained within the Preliminary Environment Impact Report, published by Vattenfall.

A day of village running repairs

Members of Necton Parish Council got physical on Saturday to make some temporary repairs to muddy areas so that residents can continue to enjoy facilities.

Cllr. Matthews, equipped with wheelbarrow and shovel, top dressed the pedestrian access points to the car park and dog walk at Firs Field on North Pickenham Road.  Wood chippings, donated by a local farmer, makes a fine, thick mulch that soaks up the soft mud.

The Parish Council agreed at their December meeting to a programme of improvement works to Firs Field entrance, building on the work undertaken by the Allotment Association earlier in the year.  Work is expected to start in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, at the Community Centre, Cllr. Hayton’s choice of dressing was shingle – to assist with the extra car parking needs of the Football Club.  With the introduction of a number of youth football teams, good attendance has been taking it’s toil on the grass area which doubles as car park provision.

The Parish Council has plans to upgrade the parking facilities as part of their Community Garden project and aims to secure funding for the project in the New Year.

Parish Council Christmas Opening times

The Parish Office will be closed to drop-in public visitors from Monday 11 December and will re-open on Monday 8 January 2018.  Internal and external post boxes will be regularly checked and urgent correspondence responded to.

Necton remembered its fallen heros

Members of Necton Parish Council joined residents at our village memorial yesterday to remember those who gave their lives in the protection of our freedoms.   The service at the memorial was conducted by Rev. Stephen Thorp.  Commemorations continued with a full service within the church.

A new planning application for the Old Diner site

A new application for the old diner site has been received by Breckland Council and is now published via their planning application portal.

The application is for a new petrol station/shop to be run by the Co-op and a new Costa Coffee shop with an additional drive-through facility.

This application will be listed on the Parish Council’s November meeting agenda and we welcome your comments on this proposal.

Necton Resident Survey 2017 – help us plan for the next 3 years

It’s that time of year, we are preparing our plans and budgets for the next 3 years – and we want help from Necton residents.

A paper questionnaire is inserted into the October Parish Link and will be dropping through your letterbox very shortly.  Completed questionnaires can be dropped into the Parish Office at the Community Centre.   There are also collection points at the Windmill Pub and the Shop.  Deadline for returns is 31 October.
