    Following on from the Parish Council’s achievement of our first ever quality status award, the National Association of Local Councils has nominated us as Council of the Week.  This is a national acknowledgement of the achievements of the Council in ensuring good practice across all of it’s activity.

  • Police need your help

    The following is a local policing update for the Swaffham neighbourhood
    District summary 16 November 2015

    Police are re-appealing for help from members of the public to help trace a 42-year-old man who is wanted.

    Karl Giddings is wanted for failing to appear at court in relation to drugs offences.

    He is described as white, approximately 5ft 10 to 5ft 11in tall, of slim build, with short brown hair and blue eyes.

    Giddings is believed to be in the Dereham, Fakenham or Watton areas however he also has links to Thetford as well as in Essex and London.

    Police are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen him or knows of his current whereabouts.

    Anyone with information should not approach him but call Norfolk Police immediately on 101.

    Swaffham burglary appeal

    Detectives are appealing for information following a recent burglary in Swaffham.

    It happened at an address on Queen Street sometime between 2.10pm and 5.20pm on Friday 13 November.

    Two suspects were disturbed and were seen running from the rear of the address at around 5.20pm.

    Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area between the times stated or anyone with information should contact Det Con Sarah Warner at Thetford CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  • Necton remembers its brave men of both World Wars

    Residents gathered at the war memorial in Necton village for a short service on Sunday, 8 November 2015. Revd Stephen Thorp led this service, acknowledging each of the men individually by name, their bravery and their loss of life in pursuit of protection of future lives.

    Two minutes silence was observed, followed by laying of wreaths by Necton Brownies and Necton Parish Council.  Those present at the memorial then followed Revd Thorp into the church and joined the congregation for the full Remembrance Sunday service.

  • 12 November: Coffee Morning at the Centre

    Come and join us for a coffee (or tea) and cake at the community centre on

    Thursday 12 November from 9.30 to 11.30am.

    Friends of Necton are hosting and its a lovely opportunity for a chat.

     

  • Found: Set of keys on playing field

    Last week a set of keys was handed in to the Parish Office.  They were found on the playing field.  They include a car key and four other keys.  For more information, please contact the Clerk

  • Found: Concessionary travel card on Chantry Lane

    Our village caretaker, Leonard, found some cards that belong to a young person, who’s name is George.  They were found today on the footpath on Chantry Lane.

  • November Agenda published

    The agenda for the next Parish Council meeting has been published and can be viewed here.  The meeting is Monday, 2 November 2015 at 7.30pm in the Community Centre.

  • Coffee Morning, Thursday 5 November, 9.15am at the Community Centre

    Friends of Necton, Christine and Colin are holding a series of Coffee Mornings at the Community Centre, starting on Thursday, 5 November at 9.15am.

    Please come along to meet new friends and enjoy a social couple of hours over a hot drink and home-made cake.

    Proceeds towards the Community Centre.

     

     

  • Parish Council Meeting dates for 2016

    It’s almost the end of the year and time to book dates for 2016.  Necton Parish Council meetings are routinely held on the first Monday of the month (unless it’s a bank holiday) at 7.30pm in the Community Centre (main hall).  Here’s a list of the exact dates for 2016.

    At every meeting, there is an opportunity to speak directly to the Council.  If you would like to speak privately, then come along a few minutes before the meeting.  Alternatively, drop into our Parish Office to speak with our Clerk.
